How to get big and bushy pallet leaves!

Of course you wish for a large, healthy and bushy palette leaf!

Below I give some tips on the way and how I usually do it.

  • Pallet leaves thrive in nutrient-rich soil and a suitably large pot. If you notice that the pallet leaf is not growing as fast as usual, it is probably time to replant into a larger pot.
  • The most common mistake that causes pallet leaves to die is overwatering! So be careful, an overwatered palette blade looks pretty much the same as a thirsty palette blade. So feel carefully whether the soil is dry or wet. If the palette leaf looks springy, it doesn't need water. But it must not dry out too much either.
  • Add nutrients during the bright season and feel free to replant into new soil at the edge of spring. Of course, it is also possible to replant at other times of the year if you notice that the pot is too cramped, the soil is dry and you have to water almost all the time.
  • Palette leaves are real sun and light worshipers who desire light as much as we do during the dark half of the year. In order for them to survive winter, plant lighting or your brightest window is usually required. There are many affordable lamps and it doesn't have to say plant lighting on the label for the plant to thrive.
  • Last but certainly not least is the importance of cutting the pallet sheet. For each cut above a pair of leaves, the palette branches into two new shoots. This is absolutely necessary if you want it to look bushy! Bring the scissors and cut!
